Salem Harley-Davidson® is currently seeking qualified individuals for the following positions.

Service Writer

Intake customer vehicles, diagnose problems and service needs; sell service and/or parts and communicate job status to customers.

Duties include:

  • Ensure that repair orders are complete, legible and clearly described on the repair order.
  • Estimate costs and completion times at point of sale. Clearly communicate them to customers.
  • Review work-in-progress to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Assist technician to determine correct part numbers on repair orders and assist the parts department with picking and posting of parts used.
  • Make estimates for internal and wreck repairs with the assistance of the Service Manager.
  • Forward all customer paid, warranty, and internal repair orders.
  • Greet customers immediately, in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Handle telephone transactions quickly, and courteously.
  • Notify customers ASAP of any changes, delays, or additional work needed.
  • Upsell additional services that would benefit the customer and their overall riding experience.
  • Handle customer complaints reasonably, showing empathy and a positive attitude.
  • Give special attention to repeat repairs to ensure the situation is corrected.
  • Ensure customer’ vehicle is cleaner than when it was dropped off.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • Outgoing, friendly personality and superior communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with servicing of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and other products sold by the dealership, or the demonstrated ability to quickly learn them.
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale and parts & service management computer software or the ability to quickly learn due to general knowledge & experience with computers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and relationship with all other employees.
  • Capable of pushing and loading motorcycles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and motorcycle endorsement.
  • Passion for the motorcycling lifestyle and riding community.
  • Attention to detail.
  • High energy level needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, Holidays, and evenings.

Parts Associate

Provide courteous, knowledgeable assistance to customers; perform cashiering, stocking and other duties to promote efficient functioning of the department. Identify correct part numbers specific to a motorcycle. Resolve difficult customer problems in a courteous and professional manner.

Duties include:

  • Meet customer needs, offer options, resolve problems and follow up with customers.
  • Ensure full customer satisfaction without unnecessarily referring customers to other staff members.
  • Maintain friendly, helpful demeanor.
  • Provide professional, knowledgeable, courteous customer service.
  • Assist customers in locating merchandise, take special orders, answer questions, and communicate policies on returns and exchanges.
  • Monitor for shoplifting.
  • Perform all cashiering functions in accordance with company cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Check price tags for alterations.
  • Does not accept checks unless processed through cross checks.
  • Use appropriate verification procedures for credit card purchases.
  • Keep the sales floor neat, clean and fully-stocked.
  • Shelve new stock, inform buyers of fast- and slow-selling stock, maintain thorough knowledge of inventory.
  • Ensure merchandise is attractively displayed.
  • Maintain cashiering desk/areas in a clean, organized fashion.
  • Keep the cashiering area well-stocked with necessary supplies, such as shopping bags, credit card drafts, etc.
  • Assist with answering incoming calls and directing them to the appropriate person or department.
  • Make tags for damaged merchandise, deliver daily to the designated area.
  • Comply with all company and department policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Provide customer service to external customers.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent degree or greater required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience required, with 3-5 years preferred; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to take initiative and problem solve.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present oneself as well as the company in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws/policies/principles/etc.
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and corresponding programs.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills and customer service skills required.

Motorcycle Sales Associate

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are wild about motorcycles and customer service. Successful applicants will be driven to meet their sales goals through a well-defined sales process, work well with a team, and understand how to deliver a premium experience to customers 100% of the time. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and meet the physical requirements of the job. A motorcycle endorsement is preferred. Prior sales experience preferred.

  • Prospecting potential sales customers both in-person and via telephone
  • Educating customers about motorcycles, including fielding a wide range of product questions with excellence

Motorcycle Technician

We are looking to add two more qualified individuals to our outstanding Service Technician team. Our current team has four master technicians and a long-standing reputation for efficiency and excellence. This is an excellent opportunity for an established technician looking to perfect his craft, or a talented up-and-comer looking for mentorship.

We have recently started doing performance work again! That means engine builds, performance kits, tuners, you name it. We’re excited about performance, and hope you are too!

Experience:
